This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry following a bilateral meeting in Cambodia on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the East Asian Summit (EAC) and the ASEAN Regional Security Forum (ARF).
"The ministers expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the development of Russian-Chinese relations, which are not affected by the external conjuncture. It was noted that the parties continue to progressively increase practical cooperation and foreign policy coordination in line with the agreements reached by the heads of the two states," the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.
Smolenskaya Square indicated that during the conversation, a detailed exchange of views took place on issues of bilateral cooperation in the ASEAN, ARF and EAC formats. "The need to maintain an Asean-centric security architecture was emphasized in the light of the increasing activity of the United States and its satellites to create narrow—block structures in the Asia-Pacific region," the diplomatic department added.
The ministry also reported that the foreign ministers of Russia and China discussed a number of topical issues on the regional and international agenda. "The ministers highly appreciated the bilateral cooperation on the UN platform, considered the issues of reforming the world organization. The desire to further expand cooperation in the BRICS and RIC formats has been confirmed," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
