Mikhail Mishustin and Akylbek Zhaparov discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan

On the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the press service of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation reports.

During the meeting, Mikhail Mishustinand Akylbek Zhaparov discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.

The parties discussed the digitalization of the activities of tax and customs authorities, in including the technical and software development of the tax administration system.

“We are abandoning the “poor” country syndrome and want to use all our own resources. For us, the experience of the Russian Federation in the fiscalization of tax and customs procedures is very important. We hope to increase the revenue side of the budget in the very near future by fully digitalizing the system of tax and customs administration,” said Akylbek Zhaparov.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparovthanked Mikhail Mishustin for assistance provided as part of the restoration of the Batken region, which suffered as a result of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, and for the supply of a vaccine against coronavirus infection.

During the conversation, the parties also noted the importance strengthening bilateral relations in the humanitarian sphere. In particular, the project “Russian Teacher Abroad”, which has been successfully implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic since 2019, and the construction of 9 educational organizations in 2022 were discussed.

The Russian Federation expressed its readiness to assist in organizing polling stations for citizens to vote of Kyrgyzstan, located on the territory of Russia, in the upcoming parliamentary elections, and also informed the Kyrgyz side about the resumption of air communication with the cities of Bishkek, Osh and the Issyk-Kul region.

The Heads of Government also discussed joint activities within the framework of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation and revitalization of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
