Kim Jong Un becomes official head of state

This follows from the text of the updated Constitution of the DPRK.
As a result of amendments to the text of the Constitution of the DPRK, the head of state has changed in the republic. This is reported by TASS with reference to the North Korean Internet portal "Nenara" ("My Country").
From now on, according to Art. 100 of the Basic Law of the DPRK, the highest position in the country belongs to the chairman of the State Council. He is the "supreme leader representing the state". Prior to this, the chairman of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (parliament) of the DPRK was formally considered the head of state.
This means that Kim Jong-un, who is the chairman of the State Council and chairman of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), has officially become the state leader.
Until now, the head of the country's parliament has formally been the head of the North Korean state. This position is currently held by Choi Ryong-hae.
