Bahrain and Israel have begun negotiations on a free trade agreement.

Bahrain and Israel have begun preparations for a bilateral free trade agreement. This was announced on Tuesday by Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Orna Barbivay.

"I arrived in the capital of Bahrain, Manama, to start negotiations on signing a free trade agreement between the two countries," the minister said, quoted by Al Jazeera TV channel.

According to Barbivay, "the agreement (on free trade — approx. TASS) will greatly serve to deepen relations between Israel and Bahrain, expand trade cooperation and help in building bilateral ties." She also noted that future agreements "will be a new step towards strengthening the Abrahamic Agreements" concluded between Israel and Arab countries.
