In Israel, against the backdrop of a new outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the executive branch was able to approve a regulation in the Knesset granting expanded powers to the security services to combat the coronavirus.

We are talking, in particular, about the localization of carriers of the disease by tracking the signal of their mobile devices. According to the adopted law, Israeli counterintelligence Shabak (Shin Bet) receives the right to monitor infected citizens until July 21. According to the regulation, only with the help of such measures it is possible to stop the spread of the coronavirus by identifying and isolating the entire contact group of a new patient in a timely manner.

In the event that the test for coronavirus is positive, Shabak opens all conversations of the subscriber and its movement throughout the country during the 2 weeks preceding the blood test.

The law was initiated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In fact, we are talking about the extension of an already existing act for an additional 3 weeks.
