Iranian Foreign Minister will leave for Syria on March 23.


Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir AbdollahianMarch 23 will pay an official visit to Syria. This was reported on Tuesday by the ISNA agency.


It is noted that the minister will hold a number of meetings in Damascus with representatives of the Syrian authorities.


The Iranian authorities have supported PresidentBashar al-Assad since the outbreak of armed conflict in Syria in 2011. According to the official version, the Iranian forces are represented on the territory of the Arab country only by military advisers. In Tehran they are called "defenders of shrines" revered by Shia Muslims, most of them are located in Damascus and Aleppo.
