Iran strives for good-neighbourly relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf.

The Iranian government is pursuing a policy aimed at strengthening and development of good neighborly relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf. This, as reported by the IRNA agency, was stated on Tuesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who arrived on a visit to Qatar. According to him, he intends to discuss in Doha the prospects for bilateral cooperation in various fields, the situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East.

“Considering the approaching World Cup, the Iranian side is ready to assist Qatar by providing its engineering and technical services,” the minister said.

Directly from the airport, Abdollahian went to meet the emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

On Monday, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry visited the Sultanate of Oman, where he was received by Deputy Prime Minister Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said. Abdollahian noted the important role played by Muscat in establishing negotiations on the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program, which are now taking place in Vienna. According to him, "the Omanis are sincerely determined that the negotiations in Vienna will lead to a good agreement, and are making diplomatic efforts in this direction."

“In addition to political partnership, we discussed with the Omani side joint investments in some projects within Iran, in particular expansion of Chabahar port in southeast country, & nbsp; - said the minister. “In addition, agreements have been reached on the resumption of air and sea communications.”

Previously, Abdollahian explained that Iran is interested in the implementation of the agreement signed in 2011 in Ashgabat on the creation of an international transport and transit corridor between Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
