India hopes for Vladimir Putin's visits to participate in the SCO and G20 summits.
India hopes for the visits of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the republic to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is scheduled for June, and the summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) in September. This was stated on Thursday by Indian Ambassador to Moscow Pavan Kapoor during the conference "Strategic Partnership of India and Russia: new challenges and opportunities in a changing world order."
"We hope that we will receive the President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir] Putin at the SCO summit in June, and then, hopefully, at the G20 summit in September," Kapoor said, speaking online during the conference.
In 2023, India holds the chairmanship of the SCO and the G20 at the same time. Earlier, the G20 organizing committee reported that the 18th G20 Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held on September 9-10, 2023 in New Delhi. In addition to the leaders of the G20 member countries, the leaders of nine other countries — Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Oman, the UAE and Singapore.
The representative of the Russian president (sherpa) in the "twenty" Svetlana Lukash in an interview with TASS stated that there is every chance for Vladimir Putin to participate in the G20 summit in September 2023 in New Delhi.
