The celebration of the anniversary date is taking place on a special scale. Video clips about this historic event could be seen on big screens, and citizens hung flags of China and Hong Kong on the facades of their houses. Concerts, performances and solemn processions were held throughout the metropolis.

"I was born in 1997, so I always had the feeling that I was growing up with Hong Kong.  Today is a big holiday, and I hope that the city will develop, and an interesting future awaits me."
Patriotic music was performed at the concert dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to its homeland. Including the symphony "Ode to the Red Flag" and the song "I love you, China", beloved by the public.
So Chung Wing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Islands Federation:

With the introduction of the National Security Law and the improvement of the electoral system in Hong Kong, the necessary changes have taken place."
In total, 50 streets and parks of Hong Kong were decorated for the anniversary. After the official part of the holiday, street festivities and dancing continued there.
The number of members of the Communist Party of China has exceeded 96 million people
The number of the Chinese Communist Party reached almost 97 million people by the end of last year. This was told by members of the Organizational Department at a press conference dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the formation of the CPC. The ministry noted that the number of party members has increased by 16 percent over the past 10 years.
Qi Jiabin, an employee of the Organizational Department of the CPC Central Committee:
We see that the organizational system of the party is becoming more dense. We are serious about recruiting new candidates for the party, training leaders and helping organizations that work with the masses at the grassroots level. We have fully demonstrated the organizational capabilities of the party during the implementation of important tasks, including in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and poverty."
The press conference also noted that the party has adapted and implemented innovative methods for working with personnel. Slightly more than half of Chinese Communists have a higher education or a scientific degree.
As of the end of last year, there were 28 million women in the CPC – this is 29% of the total number. The share of representatives of ethnic minorities has increased to 7.5%.
Shanghai Disneyland has reopened its doors to visitors
Shanghai Disneyland has reopened its doors to visitors. For three months, the rides and magic castles were empty while the city struggled with the COVID-19 outbreak. Now the epidemic has subsided, and the amusement park is gradually resuming work with restrictions on the visitor flow.
At the entrance to Disneyland, you must present a "green" QR code of health status and a negative test result for coronavirus. Masks are also required.
"I am very glad to finally visit Disneyland today!" exclaims the young guest of Disneyland.
"I really want my daughter to relax and rest, because she spent several months at home," says the mother of one of the young visitors, "So today we are going to have fun and rejoice that life in Shanghai is getting better."
Restaurants, cinemas and cultural organizations have also started operating in Shanghai. Art lovers can re-enter museums and art galleries from July 1. Concert halls will be available again from July 8. Public libraries and cultural centers will be opened gradually over the next month.
A baby gray porpoise was spotted in the waters of the Yangtze River
A baby gray porpoise was spotted in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River near the city of Nanjing. He was born in early June and at birth was only 30 centimeters in length. These animals spend the first months of life together with their parents, feed on mother's milk and small fish. Volunteers of the Association for the Protection of Featherless Porpoises noted that the cub quickly adapted to river waters and mastered several swimming techniques.
Wu Jiamin, volunteer of the Association for the Conservation of Featherless Porpoises:
"Usually porpoises can be seen early in the morning and late in the evening. It's too hot for them in the afternoon in the middle of summer, so they don't show up. The baby is now one month old, and he looks especially cute."
According to recent studies, the population of featherless porpoises that live near Nanjing is steadily growing. This is due to the state program for the ecological restoration of the Yangtze River and the ban on fishing. Now porpoises are among the vulnerable species and are under protection.
