The Foreign Ministers of Qatar and Bahrain held a meeting in Riyadh

The Foreign Ministers of Qatar and Bahrain, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Abdel Latif bin Rashed al-Zayani, held a meeting in Riyadh, during which they discussed prospects for normalization of relations between the two countries. This was reported on Tuesday by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

According to him, the ministers considered the issue of creating the necessary mechanisms to start negotiations at the level of bilateral committees, which will allow "resolving unresolved issues between the two countries."

In the summer of 2017, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism and interfering in their internal affairs. This was followed by economic sanctions and a transport blockade of Qatar.

In January 2021, the Arabian monarchies and Egypt signed an agreement at the summit of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf in the Saudi city of El-Ula on ending all disagreements with Qatar, restoring full-fledged diplomatic relations with it, as well as lifting the transport blockade.
