The Attorneys General of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan discussed the humanitarian agenda.


General Prosecutors of Armenia Artur Davtyan, Igor Krasnov of Russia and AzerbaijanKamran Aliyev discussed the humanitarian agenda at the trilateral meeting in Minsk. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia on Friday.


"The prosecutors discussed the search for new opportunities to solve the existing humanitarian and legal problems that arose as a result of the war unleashed against Artsakh (the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic - approx. TASS) wars, within the competence of the prosecutor's offices of the three countries and related to the implementation of agreements reached during the two previous meetings on the same agenda. The sides stressed the need to preserve the trilateral format as an effective platform for ensuring stability, legality and fundamental human rights and security," the message reads.


The consistent efforts of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and personally were emphasizedIgor Krasnov on the full implementation of the humanitarian requirements of the trilateral statement of November 2020.


Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan noted that despite the agreement reached during the previous trilateral meetings on incidents on the contact line, violations of the ceasefire regime continue, resulting in threats to the security of civilians and their legitimate rights. He added that the speedy return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan is crucial for restoring trust between the parties and establishing peace in the region.


Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue negotiations with the mediation of the Russian side in order to fully resolve humanitarian issues.
