Joint statement by the foreign ministers of the SCO member states on the situation in Afghanistan.


The member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are ready to develop cooperation with Afghanistan, primarily in the fight against terrorism and drug crime, as well as in the areas of politics, economics and humanitarian cooperation. This is stated in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The document was signed following the meeting of the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group. The event took place in Dushanbe as part of a large-scale meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO Member States. In their statement, the Foreign Ministry leaders advocated the development of Afghanistan as an independent, neutral, unified, peaceful, democratic and prosperous state. The text notes that the achievement of peace and stability in Afghanistan is one of the main factors for ensuring security in the SCO region.
