The Taliban announced the reopening of the EU mission in Kabul.

The radical Taliban movement, which seized power in Afghanistan (banned in the Russian Federation), announced the resumption of the work of the EU representative office in Kabul. The corresponding statement was published on Thursday on Twitter on the page of the Taliban-appointed press secretary of the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Kahar Balkhi.

"After a series of meetings and agreements with representatives of the European Union, the EU officially reopened its representative office in Kabul and started practical activities",  - said the representative of the radicals.

The Taliban launched a massive operation to take control of Afghanistan after the US announced in the spring of 2021 the decision to withdraw its armed forces from there. On August 15, radicals entered Kabul without a fight, and President Ashraf Ghani left the republic.

After that, several countries and international organizations began to evacuate their employees and the Afghans who worked for them from Kabul. As clarified in Brussels, the EU states evacuated 17.5 thousand people from Afghanistan. people, including    the 520 European and local employees of the EU mission in Kabul and their family members.

In early December, EU Foreign Service spokesperson Nabila Massrali announced that the EU Delegation would appear in Kabul in the coming weeks, but this would not mean recognition Brussels formed by the Taliban interim government of Afghanistan.
