Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan and the UAE reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the security of the region.

The leaders of the four Arab States — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King Abdullah II of Jordan and President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan — at a meeting held in the Egyptian city of El Alamein on Tuesday confirmed their commitment to efforts to strengthen stability and security in the region.

"The leaders reaffirmed their support for efforts aimed at strengthening security, peace, stability and joint cooperation at various levels, which is based on mutual trust and respect, in order to satisfy the aspirations of all the peoples of the region for progress and development," the Egyptian president's official representative said in a statement. According to him, the summit participants discussed fraternal relations, as well as a number of regional and international issues.

The meeting took place behind closed doors at the Presidential Palace in the city of El Alamein on the Mediterranean coast. Initially, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi was also supposed to take part in it, but he was forced to interrupt his visit to Egypt due to the aggravated situation in his country.
