Representatives of Russia and China discussed strategic security at a meeting in Moscow Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic security issues were held in Moscow.

Our country was represented at the meeting by the Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev. His interlocutor was Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo and head of the office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

When discussing the situation on the world stage, the parties advocated a multilateral approach in foreign policy and condemned the Cold War mentality, block and ideological confrontation. Representatives of Russia and China expressed their readiness to counter attempts of intimidation, to look for ways to democratize international relations and strengthen multipolarity. The politicians agreed to expand multilateral cooperation and make more efforts to improve global governance. The sides also stressed that peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region is an important priority of the two countries.

China approves global security concept

The "Concept Document on the Global Security Initiative" has passed all stages of approval in the PRC. It includes Xi Jinping's proposals on countering conflicts and challenges of our time. The document lists 20 priority areas of international cooperation aimed at dialogue, peaceful resolution of problems and active communication between States. More than 80 countries and regional organizations have already supported the Chinese global security initiative and expressed gratitude for its development.

Our global security initiative expresses and supports the interests of people around the globe. But its promotion requires the unity and cooperation of the international community. We welcome any State that wants to join this initiative, as long as it sincerely strives for peace and global development."

It focuses on the growth of the human development index instead of the traditional approach in which the armed forces were considered the main pillar of security."

Dialogue and diplomacy should be the main means of resolving any disputes and conflicts. South Africa shares China's position on how to prioritize and find peaceful solutions to issues."

China is the only country whose Constitution enshrines a commitment to the path of peaceful development. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang stressed that the Celestial Empire will never claim hegemony, expansion, its own sphere of influence or participation in an arms race. Instead, China will always defend world peace. The minister added that China is going to hold a separate high-level event in the near future to discuss security issues.

For example, in 2016, at the G20 summit, Chen Jialing's large-scale work "West Lake Landscape" became the background picture for a group photo of world leaders.
