Wang Yi, head of the Chinese diplomatic department, paid a two-day official visit to the DPRK.

On May 2, Wang Yi held talks in Pyongyang with his North Korean counterpart, Lee Yong-ho. The exchange of views between the ministers concerned the nuclear disarmament of the Korean Peninsula.

On May 3, the minister's official audience with Kim Jong-un was scheduled.

Information about the meeting with the leader of the DPRK came from the press service Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. The leader of the DPRK personally confirmed to Wang Yi that the issue of renunciation of nuclear weapons remains uncontested.

Since 2007, this is the first official visit by a Chinese foreign minister to North Korea.
