Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived on an official visit to Russia on Monday. This was reported by the state news agency AzerTAj.

“On February 21, the President of the Republic of AzerbaijanIlham Aliyevat the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived on an official visit to Russia,” the message says.

It is noted that at Vnukovo-2 airport Ilham Aliyevand his wife Mehriban Aliyeva were met by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenkoand other officials.

Earlier on Monday, the Kremlin press service reported that on February 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with his Azerbaijani counterpartIlham Aliyev. According to the information, the parties plan to discuss the whole range of issues of further development of bilateral relations in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

“According to the results of the negotiations, a declaration on allied cooperation will be signed, bringing relations between Russia and Azerbaijan to an allied level” , the message says.

In addition, it is planned to consider the implementation of the agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, including measures to restore economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus.
