Armenia completes construction of a section of a new road to Iran

The construction of a road alternative to the Goris-Kapan highway leading to Iran has been completed. This was announced on Wednesday at a press conference by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan.

“In fact, we already have an alternative road (the Tatev-Agvani section, the Goris-Kapan alternative highway) in a completely paved form. Roads to the villages of Shurnukh, Vorotan, Bardzravan are currently being built from this section,” he said. Karabakh regions, except for the Lachin corridor. The Karmrakar-Shurnukh and Goris-Vorotan sections of the interstate road linking Armenia with Iran also passed to Azerbaijan, but a Russian border guard post was established there to ensure the free movement of people and vehicles.

On Thursday, the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyanstated that the government intends to spend approximately $1 billion on the construction of sections of the North-South road leading to Iran.
