Typhoons 9 and 10 are approaching Japan

Typhoon 10 is approaching the coast of eastern Japan, causing heavy rainfall in the Kanto region, officials from the Japan Meteorological Bureau said.


Typhoon 10 was 150 kilometers northeast of Hachijojima Island in the Pacific Ocean as of 9:00 a.m. Sunday, the agency said. It was moving northeast at a speed of about 25 km per hour.


Meteorologists report that another typhoon #9 is likely to approach the Kyushu region, where it could make landfall on Sunday evening or later.


Officials warn of possible landslides, low-lying floods, swollen rivers and high waves.


The population is urged to follow the latest information about two typhoons.
