Visitors to the menagerie in Qingyuan City saw for the first time a black rhinoceros cub, which was born in early October.

At birth, the baby weighed just over 30 kilograms. Now the rhinoceros has gained the same amount. His mother takes care of the cub, from whom he does not leave a single step.

According to zoologists, the baby will continue to grow for another five years. During this time, the animal can gain up to two tons of weight. Adults reach up to 3.5 meters in length and one and a half in height. Despite their impressive size, rhinoceroses can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Black rhinos live in captivity up to 45 years. These animals are endangered. There are about 3.5 thousand individuals left in the world.

Over the past half century, their number has been greatly reduced due to poaching and a decrease in the number of places suitable for life for rhinos.
