Residents of the city will be able to see the works of Ivan Aivazovsky, Alexey Savrasov, Isaac Levitan, Ivan Shishkin, Karl Bryullov, Valentin Serov and other artists.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition "Treasures of the Tretyakov Gallery" took place on Wednesday at the National Art Museum in Yakutsk, a TASS correspondent reports. The exhibition is timed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Yakut ASSR.

"Today is a truly historic day for our culture. For the third time in 100 years, the Tretyakov Gallery brings its treasures to Yakutsk for presentation to our residents," the head of Yakutia said at the ceremony Aisen Nikolaev. "In terms of quality and direction, it is probably [one of] the most outstanding exhibitions that have ever been held on the territory of our republic."

The exhibition presents 50 paintings and six sculptures of the XIX-XX centuries. The diversity of genres and the main artistic trends of Russian art for two centuries has been taken into account. "It should be noted that the exhibition shows paintings from the "Golden Fund" of the collection of Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov. The emphasis is placed on the chronological development of Russian classical art," the materials provided at the exhibition say. Among the paintings are works by Ivan Aivazovsky, Alexey Savrasov, Isaac Levitan, Ivan Shishkin, Karl Bryullov, Valentin Serov, Vasily Surikov, Ilya Repin and others.

"We really tried to present at this exhibition the most important artists, the most important works created for almost 150 years. We understood that this was a challenge for us and a huge challenge for our colleagues here at the Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). We were well aware that in order to bring it here and show it, it is necessary to work very seriously on the adaptation of exhibition spaces, providing all the necessary climate systems, the right light, the necessary alarm systems, and it really amazes how colleagues here, on the spot, were able to provide this," the General Director noted at the opening ceremony The Tretyakov Gallery of Zelfir Tregulov. She added that a third of the exhibition consists of works taken from the permanent exhibition of the Tretyakov Gallery.

The exhibition is open to all visitors from June 2 to July 17 in the main building of the museum.

In 2022, the region celebrates the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Yakut ASSR. The decree on the formation of the Yakut ASSR was signed on April 27, 1922. 70 years later, in 1992, on the same day, the Constitution of the Republic came into force, which defined the status of Yakutia as a subject of the Russian Federation.
