The 21st Amur Autumn Festival will be held in Blagoveshchensk

The Amur Autumn Film and Theater Festival will be held in Blagoveshchensk from September 10 to 17, the president of the festival, Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Sergey Novozhilov said on Friday at a press conference in TASS dedicated to the 100th anniversary of film director, screenwriter Leonid Gaidai and the program of anniversary events.

"The 21st Amur Autumn will be held from September 10 to 17 this year," Sergey Novozhilov said. He noted that in 2023 the festival will be dedicated to the work of Leonid Gaidai. As part of the event, a panorama of the filmmaker's films will be shown, as well as a creative evening with the participation of actors who starred in his paintings will be held before closing. In addition, the best actor will be awarded the annual special prize "For his contribution to Comedy" - a bronze statuette of Leonid Gaidai. Since 2009, 14 Russian actors have received this award.

More than 30 festive events are planned in the Amur region as part of the 100th anniversary of Gaidai. The events will be held in Blagoveshchensk and the city where the film director was born - in Svobodny.

In the Trans-Baikal Territory, where Gaidai lived his first childhood years and served in the military, more than 100 events dedicated to the director are also planned, the governor of the region Alexander Osipov said at a press conference. In particular, according to the head of the region, a separate program in honor of Gaidai will be presented at the Trans-Baikal International Film Festival.

"We want to initiate creative processes, including among young people, related to various kinds of visual projects, filming, and so on. That is, we want to use as fully as possible, using the creative potential that he, on the one hand, demonstrated, on the other hand, laid in our cinema and culture, to use for the development of our youth, today's cadres," Alexander Osipov added.

The Amur Autumn Film and Theater Festival has been held in Blagoveshchensk since 2003 to attract the viewer's attention to domestic cinema and theatrical and musical art, to form a high socio-cultural status of Russian cinema, to develop cultural ties with colleagues from East Asia. In 2021, the festival was dedicated to the Year of Science and Innovative Technologies.
