Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting with representatives of the tourism industry, which discussed the possibility of resuming tourism in the country.


The proposal for a gradual return of the tourism industry to work was initiated by the Minister of Tourism, Yariv Levin, and it was approved.

In the context of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Israeli Ministry of Health will develop a special standard called “ Purple badge", which will confirm the possibility of operating hotels and rooms.

Further steps to return to activities in the tourism sector will depend on the epidemiological situation. 

"I am pleased to announce the step taken today .  This is good news for many thousands of business owners and workers in the tourism industry, which for the first time since the crisis began, set a specific date for her return to work,” said Yariv Levin.

“I am very pleased that the first step has been taken to reopen the tourism industry, and in less than one week, Israelis will be able to travel again in their country . I hope that inbound tourism will be resumed in the very near future, and Russians will again be able to travel to sunny and warm Israel. We will be waiting for them very much,” added Vladimir Shklyar, Director of the Department of the Ministry of Tourism of Israel in the Russian Federation and the CIS, Advisor to the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Russian Federation.
