Malaysian authorities plan to expand the list of tourist destinations that vaccinated residents can visit from October 1. As CNA TV channel reported on Wednesday, we are talking about the island of Tioman, the city of Malacca and the mountain resort of Genting Highlands, located in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur.

"We intend to give these destinations two weeks to get ready to receive tourists," Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, quoted the channel as saying. According to her, "the government plans to open the resorts from October 1."

The head of the department specified that "fully vaccinated local residents will be able to visit these places, but they will also need to provide a negative PCR test result made no earlier than 48 hours prior to arrival."

Last week, the government opened the island of Langkawi to vaccinated tourists for the first time in a long time. At the same time, the authorities do not exclude that, if the favorable situation continues, the resort in the Strait of Malacca will soon become available to foreign tourists.
