Courses for guides are organized in the Katunsky Reserve.

This week, in the central estate of the Katunsky Reserve, advanced training courses in the specialty "Instructor-guide for hiking / equestrian tourism" begin. The courses are designed for residents of the Ust-Koksinsky district who are already employed in the field of tourism and wish to deepen their knowledge and skills.

Course participants will get acquainted with the general principles of organizing active tours, tactics and techniques in hiking and equestrian tourism, the basics of local history, environmental requirements, safety precautions and first aid on the route . An important part of the course is practical: within its framework, participants will work out the skills of interaction between an instructor and a group, have practice in calculating meals on the route, and get acquainted with the methodology for conducting excursions. Based on the results of the training, participants are invited to develop their own travel program: propose an idea for a trip, work out a route thread, its information content, identify dangerous places and work out tactics to overcome them, calculate the necessary equipment and food, and also calculate the cost.

The course will be taught by specialists from the Gorno-Altai State University, the Republican Center for Tourism, Recreation and Health Improvement, the Katunsky Reserve, the regional archive and the ambulance station.

Guide courses are part of the Altai-Sayan Mountain Partnership Business Instead of Poaching program and are supported by the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation.
