The Irkutsk director received the prize of the Union of Cinematographers, established for the 100th anniversary of Gaidai.
Irkutsk director, actor and screenwriter Pavel Skorobogatov received the film award of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, established for the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous film director Leonid Gaidai. The Skorobogatov Award for the film "People Live" about a forgotten Buryat village was presented on Monday by the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev and the chairman of the Irkutsk branch of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Olga Belskaya.
"There were several applicants.
This is an all-Russian award. Applicants were selected in The Union of Cinematographers. We were pleased that the choice fell on the Irkutsk director," Belskaya said at the award ceremony.
Skorobogatov's film tells about the Buryat village of Moygoty, in which there are only six inhabitants left. They have been living without electricity for more than 20 years. Despite the difficult living conditions, the villagers do not want to leave their locality.
As Kobzev said at the award ceremony, the award was established at the suggestion of the authorities of the Irkutsk region, he was supported by the chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov. On Monday, January 30, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonid Gaidai, who studied at school and began his career in
Irkutsk. At first he worked in a drama theater as a stage installer, then graduated from a theater studio and became an actor. At the age of 26, Gaidai left for Moscow and entered the VGIK.
The director became famous for the short comedies "Dog Barbos and unusual Cross" and "Moonshiners", released in 1961. For the first time, the characters Coward (performed by Georgy Vitsin), Dunce (Yuri Nikulin) and Seasoned (Evgeny Morgunov) appeared in them, who later were the main characters in other Gaidai films.
