Leonid Gaidai Film Festival opened in India

The festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the director's birth.


The film "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes his profession" opened on Saturday a retrospective festival of Leonid Gaidai's films (1923 - 1993), which takes place in Trivandrum in southern India. Director of the Russian House and Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum Ratish Nair told TASS that the festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the director's birth.

"The screening of films takes place in the cinema "Nila". We have almost a full hall today - about 200 people. Indians love movies very much. The interest in Russian comedies turned out to be very great," said Ratish Nair.

He added that the festival-retrospective of Gaidai's paintings was organized by the Russian House in Trivandrum with the support of the Mosfilm film studio.

According to the agency interlocutor, three more films of the famous Soviet comedian will be shown in the coming days: on January 29 - "Operation Y" and other adventures of Shurik", on January 30 - "The Caucasian Captive", on January 31 - "The Diamond Hand".
