Taiwan to help Japan fill medical equipment shortage

18.09.2021 132 просмотров

Taiwan will provide about 1,000 oxygen concentrators to Japan to help treat coronavirus patients amid a nationwide shortage of this medical equipment.

Taiwan's proposal is in line with plans by the Japanese Ministry of Health to receive up to 500 oxygen concentrators per month and distribute them to prefectures. The Taiwanese equipment is expected to be distributed to medical facilities and other facilities across the country through local governments.

Oxygen concentrators are needed for both those infected who are already recovering at home and patients awaiting hospitalization. However, there are currently insufficient numbers of such devices available for use in Japan.

In addition, Taiwan will send about 10,000 pulse oximeters to Japan, which measure blood oxygen saturation levels.
