Singapore zoo lions infected with covid

Singapore authorities have identified an outbreak of coronavirus among lions at the zoo. This was announced on Tuesday by the Livestock and Veterinary Service of the Republic.


"Four Asiatic lions and one African lion have shown symptoms of a cold in recent days. Tests carried out confirmed infection of Asiatic lions with the coronavirus," the statement said. "A fifth test is under investigation," the department added.

Sick animals were isolated from others. In total, the zoo contains nine Asian and five African lions.

According to preliminary information, the animals contracted the coronavirus from one of the zookeepers.
