The resort island of Phu Quoc, located in the south of Vietnam, is opening for foreign tourists for the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 200 tourists from South Korea arrived on the island on Saturday, according to NHK.

According to the channel, foreign guests must be fully vaccinated. Tourists will also be exempted from quarantine if they test negative upon arrival.

In addition, the requirements for visitors will include the use of charter flights, accommodation in specially designated facilities and visits only to those places that are included in the tourist itinerary.

Previously, Vietnam again began to receive foreign tourists in some parts of the country in mid-November. The government plans to gradually expand the areas accessible to visitors from abroad and ease restrictions on the activities of people inside these areas. The authorities intend to accept foreign tourists without any conditions in the second quarter of next year.
