Pakistan to start vaccinating teenagers with Chinese vaccines

Pakistan's National Coronavirus Command and Operations Center (NCOC) on Thursday approved the use of COVID-19 vaccines from Chinese companies Sinopharm and Sinovac to immunize adolescents aged 12 and over. This was reported by the newspaper "Doon" with reference to the department.

“The NCOC Health Expert Commission has approved the Chinese Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines for vaccinating children over 12 years old,” the ministry said in a statement.

Prior to this, in Pakistan, the specified age group was allowed to be vaccinated only with drugs from the American company Pfizer.

According to the command and operations center, 116.1 million people in the country received the first dose of the vaccine, 46.6 million received both doses.

According to the Ministry of Health, over the past 24 hours, 637 cases of coronavirus infection, the total number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded 1.2 million people. The number of deaths from the consequences of COVID-19 has reached 28,575.
