Japan launches booster vaccinations

18.09.2021 152 просмотров

The Ministry of Health of Japan has decided to offer a booster vaccine against coronavirus to people who received the second dose of the vaccine at least 8 months ago.

Sources say the ministry plans to provide booster vaccinations with drugs from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. Ministry of Health officials note that data in Japan and abroad indicate a decrease in the effectiveness of vaccines over time. This reinforces the importance of the booster.

In addition, authorities will look into when to start the booster, as some municipalities are still distributing the second dose of two-stage vaccines.

It is planned that participants in the booster vaccine will receive the vaccine with the same drug as during the first injection.
