The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, received a booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Friday. He announced this on Twitter.

"Today I received the third, strengthening dose of the vaccine. If we are vaccinated, then we protect ourselves and others," the head of the island state wrote.

Anastasiadis, who turned 75 on September 27, was vaccinated with the first and second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine last December and January this year.

The President on Friday vaccinated at the vaccination center on the grounds of the state fair in Nicosia. There, he spoke to passers-by and journalists and urged everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to be vaccinated, and those who, due to their age, have the right to receive a booster dose, take advantage of this opportunity. The head of state also expressed satisfaction with the high level of vaccination of the population on the island, which, according to him, contributes to the improvement of the epidemic situation.

From October 8, booster vaccinations in the Greek south of Cyprus are available to residents aged 70 years and older. To date, about 19 thousand people have been vaccinated with the third component of the vaccine on the island.
