China sells 4 million more doses of vaccine to Sri Lanka

million doses of the vaccine, produced by Chinese pharmaceutical corporation Sinopharm, were delivered from China on Sunday to Sri Lanka, which is currently running a massive coronavirus vaccination program.

The Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka said that the said batch of drugs was delivered from Beijing to Bandaranaike International Airport and handed over to local health authorities.

Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa noted that the resulting vaccine will be used as a second dose in a number of districts, as well as for immunization of people aged 20-30 years in the Western Province and in the Galle district in the south of the country.

Minister of Production, Channa Jayasumana stressed that the new acquisition included the largest number of doses that Sri Lanka could procure in one batch.

The Embassy of the PRC indicated that , including the Sunday batch, the South Asian country has already received 22 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from China.
