Kazakhstan plans to create a center for the production and distribution of green hydrogen

The implementation of the project will create about 3,500 jobs for the construction period and about 1,800 new permanent jobs during the phased commissioning of facilities.


The authorities of Kazakhstan plan to create a center for the production and distribution of green hydrogen in the Mangistau region of the republic with the involvement of investors. This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

"As part of the official visit of the President of the European Council Charles Michel to Kazakhstan, an investment agreement was signed on the project "Creation of a center for the production and distribution of renewable energy and green hydrogen", located in the Mangystau region, between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Hyrasia One," the message reads.

The project to create a center for the production and distribution of green hydrogen in the Mangystau region was previously presented to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Charles Michel. "The investor Svevind Group plans to organize the production of green hydrogen in the Mangystau region with a capacity of 2 million tons annually. The project involves the construction and operation of a desalination plant with a capacity of 255 thousand cubic meters per day, a 40 GW renewable energy station (wind, solar) and 20 GW water electrolysis mainly for export or domestic consumption," the press service explained.

It was noted that the implementation of the project will create about 3,500 jobs for the construction period and about 1,800 new permanent jobs during the phased commissioning of facilities. Cooperation is also envisaged between German and Kazakh universities for the training of personnel in the Mangystau region.
