Uzbekistan will attract foreign investors for the exploration of gas fields.

Uzbekistan plans to explore gas fields at great depths and intends to attract large foreign investors to this process. This was stated by the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev in an address to the parliament and the people on Tuesday. "Gas fields will be explored on the Ustyurt plateau at highly promising depths of more than 6 km.

It will attract large foreign investors, but at the same time, first of all, national interests will be taken into account," he said.

According to the President, it will be the first time in Uzbekistan that gas will be extracted from such a depth. "There are opportunities for this, there is gas, although it is expensive to extract it," the president said.

He stressed that the country will review all previously issued licenses for gas production. "Appropriate measures will be taken for inefficient enterprises. As you can see for yourself, energy has turned into politics in the world. Therefore, we must consolidate national interests in the law so that underground deposits bring benefits for the next 10-20 years," the head of state stressed. He added that in the near future the country will adopt a program of geological exploration.
