The yield of vegetables in the Tomsk region increased by 15%

The average yield of vegetables in the Tomsk region this year increased by 15% compared to 2021 - from 214.5 to 247.9 kg/ha, the press service of the Tomsk region administration told reporters on Tuesday.

"To date, farmers in the region have harvested 9 thousand tons of vegetables from an area of 1.4 thousand hectares. The average yield is 247.9 c/ ha - 33.4 c/ha higher than on the same date last year," the report says.

Including in 2022, the yield of cabbage almost doubled - 3.1 thousand tons were harvested with an average yield of 406.4 c/ha.

Tomsk potato producers dug up 29 thousand tons from 1.4 thousand hectares. Its average yield was 206.6 c/ha - 4.3 c/ha or 2% higher than on the same date in 2021.

"The efficiency of harvesting vegetables and potatoes in the Tomsk region is growing higher thanks to new machinery and equipment. In 2022, with the help of state support, enterprises in the region purchased six potato harvesters, a potato planter, a seedling machine, a topper, a comb-forming cutter for potatoes, a set of ventilation equipment with a refrigeration unit and a picker for vegetable storages," the press service of the administration emphasized.
