Trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan in 2021  set a record for 10 years.

The volume of trade between Russia and Tajikistan in 2021 amounted to 1.352 billion dollars, which is the highest value in the last 10 years. This was announced on Monday in an interview with TASS by the head of the Russian trade mission in Tajikistan Evgeny Korenkov.

“For 2021 According to official statistics, our trade turnover amounted to $1.352 billion. This indicator not only exceeded all pre-pandemic values, but also became a historical maximum over the last 10 years. The trade turnover between our countries increased by 39% over the year,  - he explained.

According to him, the growth rate of deliveries of goods from Tajikistan to Russia also reached a record high last year. “Tajik exports also broke all records - deliveries of goods to Russia from Tajikistan amounted to $ 72.5 million. and grew by a record 77% in monetary terms and almost 70% in physical terms,  he said.

The trade representative clarified that the trend towards an increase in exports from Tajikistan has been continuing for the second year already. “But foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials are the best among the best: they have grown by 2.3 times over the year and comprised almost 18% of all deliveries. Russians are more and more willing to see apricots, grapes, prunes, peaches and persimmons from sunny Tajikistan on their tables,” he added.

Speaking about Russian exports, Evgeny Korenkovnoted that the growth of its volumes is achieved, among other things, due to food, equipment and  ; chemical products. “The share of deliveries of non-commodity non-energy goods in the total volume of Russian exports to Tajikistan amounted to almost 70%, which positively characterizes the competitiveness of Russian goods in international markets and the groundlessness of the thesis that Russia supplies abroad only with oil. Growth drivers have traditionally been food products, timber and metals, as well as various types of equipment and chemical products,” he said.
