The Eurasian Development Bank will make Nur-Sultan brighter

The Bank will finance the construction of new and modernization of existing street lighting networks in the capital of Kazakhstan.

Financing is expected through the implementation of a "pilot" issue and the acquisition by the Eurasian Development Bank of "green" bonds in the amount of up to 7.142 billion tenge on the exchange of the Astana International Financial Center with an interest rate of 11% per annum and a coupon payment twice a year. 
< br> The project is called “Modernization and operation of street lighting networks in the city of Nur-Sultan” and provides for the development of design and estimate documentation, installation of poles, lamps, complex outdoor transformer substations, a control room, outdoor lighting control cabinets, overhead and cable lines, input The PPP facility is put into operation, maintenance and management of outdoor lighting networks.

“According to the current EDB Strategy for 2018-2022, improving the energy efficiency of consumption, the development of municipal infrastructure is a priority investment activity,” the press service reported, citing the State Statistics Service. secretary, vice president EDB Board Chairman Andrey Krayny.   

With the support of the AIFC Green Finance Center, the debt securities received an independent assurance confirming that the issue complies with green bond standards. Green bonds are bonds, the proceeds of which are used to finance projects with an environmental impact. 

“This is a significant and unique project for the Bank. Support for projects implemented on the principles of "green" financing is a strategic task. In addition, within the framework of the project, it is planned to use the equipment of Russian companies, which will increase the volume of mutual trade between economic entities of the Bank's member states by up to $9.3 million. I would also like to note the successful continuation of cooperation with the Bank's anchor client, Batys Transit JSC, - stressed the Chairman of the Board of the EDB Andrey Belyaninov.
