Opening Asia for Russia

The construction of a transport corridor that will connect Russia and China has been launched in Bayan-Olgii aimag

Construction of an important Asian route has begun in Mongolia within the framework of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation.

The resource "Mongolia Now" reported that a ceremony was held to start the construction of a bridge with road approaches in Bayan-Olgii aimag. the total length of the transport corridor will be 18.8 kilometers. The construction agreement was signed in March this year by the Ministry of Road Transport Development. The contractors, which are HCB International Holding and Hotgor Zam, will be engaged in construction in three stages.

The first one, 6,760 meters long, is a road approach.  It will be followed by the construction of a 200-meter reinforced concrete bridge with a ramp of 260 meters. And the third stage is a motor road with a length of 11.8 kilometers. 

The motorway will become part of the Asian route AH4, linking Russia with China through the Khovd and Bayan-Ulgiy aimags and one of the sections of the CAREC 4a transport corridor.   

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia Kh.Badelkhan, Vice Minister L.Khaltar, member of the All-Union State Council (parliament) G.Soltan, head of Bayan-Ulgiy aimag A.Gylymkhan and other officials faces.


Route AH4 (Asian Highway 4) is one of the main routes of the international Asian network, with a length of 6,024 kilometers, which connects Novosibirsk with the Pakistani port of Karachi through the territories of Mongolia and China. 

CAREC Corridor 4a (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation) links the Russian Federation, Mongolia and East Asia ( Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China, and Khovd and Bayan-Ulgiy Mongolian aimags).
