Sibur and Sinopec continue to jointly implement the Amur GCC construction project.


Sibur and the Chinese oil and gas company Sinopec continue the joint implementation of the construction project of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (GCC). This was announced by the Russian company in its Telegram channel.

Earlier, Reuters, citing sources, reported that Sinopec had suspended negotiations on large investments in the petrochemical industry in Russia and the sale of Russian gas in China.


The Amur Gas Chemical Complex is a joint venture between Sibur (60%) and the Chinese Sinopec (40%) for  ;production of polyethylene and polypropylene. The production capacity of the complex will be up to 2.7 million tons of polymers per year. The project budget is about $10 billion, its launch is scheduled for mid-2024.


The main raw materials for processing —ethane and liquefied hydrocarbon gas -will be supplied by Gazprom's Amur gas processing plant , which is being built in the Svobodnensky district of the Amur region.
