Sergey Lavrov to attend G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting

Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, noted that representatives of the business community are showing great interest in the G20.

This was stated on Thursday by Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, at the regional consultative forum of the "Business Twenty" within the framework of the SPIEF.

"We are actively preparing for the upcoming meeting of the G20 foreign ministers on July 7-8, in which our minister will take part Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov," he said.

According to Dmitry Birichevsky, the Russian side highly appreciates Indonesia's unbiased, impartial fulfillment of its obligations as chairman of the Group of Twenty. "We appreciate Jakarta's efforts to prevent politicization of the group's work, taking into account, first of all, the situation in Ukraine," he stressed, adding that Moscow is ready to show "the necessary flexibility so that the chairmanship feels as comfortable as possible."

The diplomat noted that representatives of the business community are showing great interest in the G20. "We are confident that this year, as always, the recommendations issued by the Business Twenty will be fully taken into account in the final documents of the summit," he said.
