Russia and the UAE will create a joint venture to develop a supersonic business jet.

Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) form a joint venture to develop and build a supersonic passenger business jet. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov as part of his working trip to the UAE. According to him, Abu Dhabi sovereign fund Mubadala

“It will be a joint venture. The question is what kind of equity participation it will be. So far, we have not approached this issue. From the Emirati side it will be Mubadala, from our side it is clear that it will be UAC [United Aircraft Corporation], perhaps one of its subsidiaries,” the minister noted.

Earlier Denis Manturov< /b> said that the main parameters of the machine have already been determined: it will reach speeds of up to Mach 1.8 (supersonic speed is considered to be from Mach 1 to 5 - TASS note). Also, the aircraft will have two versions: one - with a passenger capacity of up to 8 people, the second - up to 30 people. Investments in the project at the first stage are estimated at $100 million.

This week, the Russian government commission on foreign investment approved a deal between Arab Tawazun and Russian Helicopters to buy 50% of VR-Technologies.
