In particular, we can talk about the supply of VVER-1200 generation 3+ nuclear reactors to Saudi Arabia. In addition, Rosatom has applied for participation in a tender for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Kingdom.

According to A.Voronkov, cooperation in the nuclear sector between the two countries is developing on the basis of the Program for Implementing Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy approved in 2017 during King Salman’s visit to Moscow.

“In December 2017, a roadmap for cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy was signed, which includes a step-by-step program of cooperation in a number of key areas, including the construction of small and medium-sized reactors,” said a Rosatom representative.
