Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and delivery of "green" energy signed between the Government of the Republic and the governments of Georgia, Romania and Hungary. The corresponding decree was published on Tuesday on the website of the head of the Azerbaijani state.

The agreement was signed on December 17 last year in Bucharest and provides for the laying of a power transmission line along the bottom of the Black Sea with a capacity of 1 GW, its total length will be 1,195 km. Through this cable, the "green" energy produced in Azerbaijan will go through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania, Hungary and other European countries.

A feasibility study of the project is currently being developed. It is assumed that the construction of the line will take 3-4 years. The European Commission plans to allocate 2.3 billion euros for this project.
