Construction of a railway from Yakutia to Magadan will create about 8 thousand jobs. This was reported on Wednesday in the press service of the head and government of Yakutia.


Yakutia, the Magadan Region and the Yakutia Railways Company agreed on the sidelines of the WEF on cooperation in the implementation of the new railway line project.


"The construction of the line will reduce the cost and simplify the year—round transportation of goods to the northern regions, provide 15% of Yakuts with year-round transport accessibility, and can also create about 8 thousand new jobs," the press service quotes the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev.


Earlier, Russian Railways announced the possibility of building a railway to Magadan in the period up to 2035. Now the railway reaches the Nizhny Bestyakh station in Yakutia. Preliminary construction of a railway from Yakutia is estimated at 1.6 trillion rubles.


According to experts, the formation of an all-season supporting transport network should provide favorable conditions for creating the necessary prerequisites for the integration of Yakutia and the Magadan Region into the single economic space of the country and in Asia-Pacific region.
