The contract was signed at the Eurasia Airshow in Antalya. The amount of the contract will be about $2 billion.

Two airlines of the Islamic Republic will buy 20 aircraft each. According to experts familiar with the negotiations, Iran Air Tours will acquire the Superjet-100. The second carrier, Aseman Airlines, is interested in a newer modification of the liner: Superjet-100 RRJ-95R.

Previously, there were restrictions on the supply of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft products in Iran, since more than 10% of components were produced in the USA . According to the secretary of the Iranian Airlines Association, Maqsoud Asadi Samani, after changes in the design and change of suppliers, the restrictions were lifted. Now Iranian  airlines can freely purchase Russian liners.

With the acquisition of the Superjet-100, the country hopes to solve the problem of developing regional airports, many of which remained idle due to the lack of aircraft with a capacity of less than 100 passengers in the republic.

One of the distinguishing features of the machines that will be delivered to Iran is the ability to land on short runways (up to 1.4 km).

As before reported"Big Asia", the Mongolian airline Aero Mongolia is also interested in SSJ-100 liners. The purchase decision must be made during 2018.
