Azur Air starts direct flights to Sri Lanka from November 3.

Azur Air starts direct flights to Sri Lanka on November 3. This was announced by the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation Janita Abeyvikrema Liyanage on Friday at the plenary session of the international tourism exhibition Expotravel-2022, which is being held in Yekaterinburg.

"Now direct flights start again. There were some difficulties, Aeroflot stopped flying, but now direct flights of Aeroflot are resuming from October 9, we have received official confirmation. Further, Azur Air flights will start from November 3, there will be direct flights to Sri Lanka almost seven times a week," she said.

The Ambassador also added that it is currently safe to stay in the country, the situation has completely stabilized, and you can travel "completely freely."

In the spring of this year, an Aeroflot plane in Sri Lanka was arrested. The Colombo High Commercial Court then granted the complaint of the leasing company Celestial Aviation Trading ("Celestial Aviation Trading") from Ireland to the Russian air carrier and banned the airline's aircraft from leaving the country. After that, the company stopped flights to the country.

The international Tourist Exhibition Expotravel-2022 takes place in Yekaterinburg from September 30 to October 1. The business program includes conferences and round tables on topical issues of the tourism business, presentations of countries and regions, master classes and workshops.
