Astrakhan strengthens banking ties with Iran

Governor of Astrakhan Region Alexander Zhilkin met with members of the Board of Directors of Bank Melli Iran JSC in Astrakhan in order to develop further prospects for cooperation between the region and this bank, the Governor's website reports.


There are more than 170 companies with Iranian capital in Astrakhan. Connecting the Astrakhan branch of Mir Business Bank, founded by Bank Melli Iran, to work with these enterprises will provide the necessary support for foreign economic operations and internal settlements of companies from Iran in the Astrakhan region.

The governor of the Astrakhan region noted that Iran has been one of the main foreign trade partners of the Astrakhan region for a number of years. The region has established partnership relations with the Iranian provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Khorasan-Rezavi, Khuzestan.

This year, the first Iranian trading house in Russia was opened in Astrakhan, which will house the offices of 14 Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the provinces Iran.

The head of the region stressed that in the coming cooperation in the banking sector between Astrakhan and Iran will increase, among other reasons, due to the development of the North-South transport corridor and tourism, including along the Caspian Sea.< br>
"In 2019, it is planned to launch a cruise liner under construction at the Astrakhan Lotos shipbuilding plant. Starting next year, we will start forming tourist groups who would like to visit Iran. And for tourists, a convenient form of payment is important," noted Alexander Zhilkin.
