Mikhail Mishustin considers it possible to intensify the attraction of private investment in the Altai Territory.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin considers it possible to intensify the attraction of private investment in the economy of the Altai Territory, in his opinion, enough support mechanisms have been developed for this.

At a meeting on Friday with the Governor of the Altai Territory Viktor Tomenko, Mishustin recalled that for the third year the socio-economic development program has been operating for the region, under which it receives 1 billion rubles annually from the federal budget on the terms of co-financing from extra-budgetary sources.

Tomenko said that 6.6 billion rubles of investments were attracted from extra-budgetary sources over three years. "We expect the following results by the end of 2022: an additional 2,100 jobs will be created, an additional 6.6 billion rubles of extra—budgetary investments will be attracted," the head of the region said.

Mishustin, for his part, noted that "this is not enough." "Today I have seen a very large number of investors who have significant resources, big plans, including here in Altai. Therefore, it seems to me, it is possible to work here," he said.

Tomenko spoke separately about the development of mechanical engineering in the Altai Territory, noting that local manufacturers manage to establish the production of parts that were previously purchased abroad, as well as find markets for their products domestically and abroad. The governor, in particular, noted that purchases of equipment from the USA have been stopped, but measures to support machine builders are being developed jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. "I think that by the end of 2022 we will be able to maintain the level of industrial production," he assured.

Tomenko recalled that the Altai Territory is one of the leaders in the field of agricultural engineering. "We are increasing the degree of localization of production, there is a reconfiguration for the purchase and use of components purchased either at our own enterprises or in countries that take a normal position in relation to the Russian Federation," the governor explained and gave several examples of such productions.
